The turning of leaves ushers in a different riding season, one that will see cooler days where a summer kit isn't enough and a winter kit is overkill. Castelli introduced the Classics Thermosuit at the request of Team Sky's Luke Rowe for a comfortable kit, essentially a cold-weather version of the Sanremo, for use during the classics. Featuring longer legs like those on the Omloop and a water repellent treatment, this kit is poised to get you through your own monuments.
The Classics Thermosuit has unique construction for a speedsuit and is designed specifically for temps hovering around 36 to 64-degrees Fahrenheit. Sanremo construction means it has the classic, one-piece design to keep cold drafts from finding its way up your back. On the front, the suit features a design that provides better ventilation and eliminates the feeling of wearing bibs and virtually eliminates nature-break hassles.
The shorts are made from thermo Nano Flex fleece for durability and stretch. The fabric used to construct these shorts means fewer seams to give you the same fit as a Castelli bib and eliminates chafing where common seams typically rub. Its longer length offers additional protection and a healthy layer of embrocation or some knee warmers can extend the range if the conditions are really horrendous.
The jersey portion of the Classics is mid-weight Warmer X-Stretch. A cold weather riding fabric, Warmer has a fleecy, core that traps a layer of warm air next to your skin. This fabric offers better warmth and wicking properties than traditional fabrics, so you don't have to worry about getting cold during training. Its super stretchy construction also adds to your flexibility. A full-length YKK Vislon zipper with a large pull tab makes it easy to dump heat, even with gloved hands. The jersey comes together with short-sleeves so you can add arm warmers, adding to its versatility.
The Progetto X2 chamois incorporates multi-density foam at varying thicknesses throughout the chamois putting the padding where it is needed most, tapering to a minimal thickness around the edges of the chamois for more of an ergonomic fit. The top of the chamois is covered with a soft, brushed microfiber for maximum comfort and utilizes a seamless design to eliminates chafing.
The Castelli Classics Thermosuit is available in Moonlight Blue/Barely Blue and Black/Dark Gray and comes in Small to XXX-Large.
