A true hybrid of the vertical world, the Arc'teryx Procline Carbon Lite Boot combines the climbability of traditional mountaineering boots with the skiability of alpine touring boots. Known for its specialized designs and game-changing innovations, it's no surprise that Arc'teryx's first ski boot isn't just some rehash of popular designs, but an entirely new direction in which to design and build ski boots. At first glance, it's clear that the Procline isn't your standard AT boot—its split cuff, inner gaiter, and unique toe shape all indicate that this boot will dominate technical ascents, whether that be via skins or crampons. Once released into walk mode, the split cuff offers 360 degrees of cuff rotation, with 75 degrees of fore and aft of range of motion and 35 degrees of lateral movement, for unsurpassed mobility while climbing and skinning.
The construction of the Procline consists of a Grilamid shell more akin to a traditional AT boot to give the boot the solid downhill performance necessary for technical ski mountaineering descents and a lightweight split carbon cuff to save weight and enhance climbing mobility. Once locked into ski mode, the cuff remains rigid while skiing. Where the Procline really sets itself apart, though, is with its integrated corder gaiter, which is durable and waterproof to ensure reliable coverage in high alpine environs. Beneath the attached gaiter is a heat-moldable EVA liner with optional lace closure to ensure a precise and comfortable fit. The buckle system of the Procline consists of two aluminum latches and a cam-locking power strap that can be quickly secured without having to fiddle with traditional hook-and-loop straps during transitions.
