Running—while it is a beastly sport, one that is time-consuming and often difficult, its most basic beauty is obvious: running provides a freedom that's otherwise unknown and lost in translation between the daily grind and the endless to-do list. As a result, it's important to wear a shoe, like the Saucony Women's Freedom ISO Running Shoe, that provides adaptive support and dynamic performance. In turn, the Freedom encourages you to take your mileage by the horns and run with it, rather than from it.
However, what differentiates the Freedom from the rest of the Saucony lineup isn't its flashy colors or heritage-inspired name. No, in fact, its remarkability lay within the Freedom's midsole. More specifically, the Freedom is equipped with a full-length TPU that Saucony has dubbed "Everun." And while Everun isn't a new technology by any means, there's very few other manufacturers (much less other Saucony shoes) that feature a full-length TPU midsole. But, enough us versus them dialogue. The Everun's practical application translates as such: 83% more energy return, three times more durability than conventional EVA foam, and more dependable cushioning at cold temperatures. Meaning, if you're into long distance running, the Freedom is the shoe for you. That being said, just because a shoe has a great midsole doesn't mean it's going to perform well without a structurally sound upper and other technical features.
So, without further ado: the Freedom has a neutral construction, 4mm drop, and is best suited for runners with high to normal arches. This design combination allows you to make the most of your natural gait. An Isofit upper consists of a lean, yet sturdy mesh material that not only breathes well for passive ventilation, but it also provides a snug fit for a barely-there feel. Reflective accents on the Freedom enhance overall visibility when running in low-light conditions, and the reinforced edge at the toe's perimeter doubles down on the shoe's longevity. And, not to mention, the Freedom is equipped with a flexible crystal rubber that's more durable than blown rubber, so you're able to tack on the miles in confidence.
